Pomodoro Technique for Studying: Student Guide
The Pomodoro Technique is the most effective study method backed by research. It fights procrastination, improves focus, and prevents burnout. Here's how to use it in Brite.
Work for a set time, then take a short break. Repeat. The structured intervals keep your brain fresh and focused.
- Standard: 25 min study / 5 min break
- ADHD-friendly: 15 min study / 7 min break
- Deep work: 50 min study / 10 min break
After 4 rounds, take a longer 15-30 minute break.
1. Add the Pomodoro widget to your main screen
2. Choose your preferred interval (tap timer settings)
3. Press Start when you begin studying
4. Focus only on one subject until the timer rings
5. Take your break — stand up, stretch, drink water
Combine with Focus Sounds
Play background sounds while studying:
- Brown noise — best for blocking distractions
- Rain — calming, helps with anxiety
- Lo-fi music — light rhythm keeps you going
- Library ambience — simulates study environment
Preparing for an exam in 2 weeks:
1. Create a Project "Exam Prep" with subtasks for each topic
2. Schedule 3-4 Pomodoro sessions per day on your calendar
3. Set a daily habit "Study 2 hours"
4. Use the AI: "Create a study plan for my biology exam on June 10"
- During the break, don't check social media — walk, stretch, or close your eyes
- Track how many Pomodoros you complete daily — aim to increase over time
- If 25 minutes feels too long, start with 15 (ADHD mode) and build up
