Widgets Not Working: Troubleshooting Guide

If your widgets are showing blank, not updating, or resetting to defaults — this guide will help you fix it.

Android: Storage Permissions (Most Common Fix)

The #1 cause of widget issues on Android is missing Storage permissions:
1. Go to device Settings > Apps > Brite
2. Tap Permissions
3. Find Storage (or Files and Media) and set to Allow
4. Restart the Brite app
Without this permission, the app cannot save widget configurations locally, so they reset on restart.

iOS: Widgets Not Showing Data

If iOS home screen widgets or in-app widgets are blank:
1. Remove the widget (long press > Remove)
2. Restart the app completely (swipe up to close, reopen)
3. Add the widget again from the widget gallery
4. Try a Force Sync: main menu > scroll to bottom > Sync button

Monthly Widget Blank

If the Monthly widget shows nothing — this is a known issue. Workaround: remove the widget, restart the app, and add it again. If still blank, this is being fixed in an upcoming update.

Widget Layout Resets After Closing App

On Android, this is almost always caused by missing Storage permissions (see first section above). On iOS, try force-closing the app and reopening. If it persists across multiple days, contact support.

General Tips

- Make sure you're on the latest version of Brite (check App Store or Google Play for updates)
- Try Force Sync: main menu > scroll to bottom > tap the sync button (circular arrows)
- If nothing helps, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app (your data is safe in the cloud)
